Our Team

Maggie – Is our experienced supervisor. She has many years experience in childcare and withDisplay this pre-school and still works in the playroom as a Keycarer She is keen and highly motivated, and is our driving force, making sure that group runs smoothly. She has excellent leadership skills and is supportive to staff with encouragement and advice. As a reflective practitioner, she does much work behind the scenes to try and ensure that the pre-school retains its ‘outstanding’ Ofsted results, and that it continues to develop and thrive, while sharing its practise with others. Maggie is the Safeguarding officer for Crescent, and is designated member of staff for behaviour and Mathematics. She has an extensive knowledge of the EYFS – Early Years Foundation Stage, and enjoys working with the children to plan exciting ways to help them play and learn. She supports and encourages the staff in their personal development and mentors them through their NVQ training. She also mentors students taking the foundation degree. She offers volunteering opportunities and support to many childcare workers while they train for various childcare qualifications.

Mythili – is originally from India. She is one of our keycarers. She holds her CACHE QCF 3. Mythili is capable and dependable, has a ready smile, and is a very hard worker. Mythili always takes the time to sit with the children and read books or play. She gets to know the children very well and loves to relay little things that they have shared with her with their parents.

Fiona - we are pleased to welcome Fiona as an experienced Early years practitioner. She is level 5 trained in leadership and management in Early years and is a keycarer. In 2019 Fiona will be Deputy Supervisor. Fiona is our Special Needs Co-ordinator (Senco) and is lead Designated safeguarding Officer.

Sudine - has had links to Crescent as a parent and joined our team as a playworker in 2018. Sudine has now gained her level 2 NVQ and has started the role of keycarer. She will continue to study her level 3 NVQ as an apprentice. Sudine is also our Equal Opportunities officer.

Sheila – is a playworker, and has many years experience with the group and is very approachable. She always wants to make learning and play fun and enjoyable. She enjoys her football and conducts an enthusiastic PE session. She creates a relaxed atmosphere, and there is lots of laughter when Sheila is in the playroom. She has excellent imaginative ideas, and is good at working out how to do things in practical ways. Sheila is a named second deputy.

Display 2Philip – is one of our Play workers. We are fortunate to have this excellent ‘male role model’ on our team. He is a people person and is particularly in his element when ‘greeting’ parents and children at the start of his sessions. He enjoys outdoor activities and makes sure that the children do too. He is a good trouble shooter – sorting out some of our practical problems when they occur.

Joanie – is one of our playworkers, and listening to Joanie at work is a master class in how to communicate with children. Joanie also holds her Level 3 diploma in supporting Teaching and Learning in schools and is a qualifies Emotional Literacy Support Worker in another Local Primary School. Joanie is our Emotional Literacy Advisor and is excellent at thinking of new and creative ways to get children to express their feelings.

Kate - is one of our Playworkers. She works in the playroom to cover staff while they are on courses, and on a regular basis while they have their timetabled admin time to work on the children's achievement books and so on. Her enthusiasm is infectious and she enjoys playing with the children, modelling excellent behaviour and holds a captive audience at storytime.

Yasmina - Yasmina started working with us as a volunteer and is now one of our playworkers. Yasmina is friendly, caring and efficient, we look forward to her coming in. Yasmina speaks French and Arabic. Yasmina is also a Special Needs Support Worker.

Tracy - Tracy has her NNEB qualification and has many years exerience as a nanny and in schools. Tracy is currently a play worker.

June – was an experienced keycarer and has much experience in childcare, and can always come up with new ideas for the group. June is nowpart of our 'ank'stafff and will lend a helping hand when needed.

Roopa - Roopa joined us in November 2015. She is a friendly, hardworking individual and has her QCF 3 qualification and now works as a 'bank' staff and will lend a helping hand when needed. Roopa has worked at Dingley Childrens Centre and has experience with working with children with additional needs. We all benefit from her calm and caring approach to adults and children alike.

Affat - Affat joined us in September 2017. She has the appropriate Level 3 qualification and has worked in Early Years Settings. Affat is part of our 'bank staff' and will cover when we we need an extra pair of hands. Affat is currently on maternity leave.

Sylvia - Has been one of our valued volunteers for many years, joining us in 1986 while she was working as a nurse at Great Ormand Street. She has remained with us ever since while still working - (later changing career to radiographer) and in to her retirement. Now in her late eighties she still supports the pre-school - making our playdough for us every week, and organising the loan of books for the children to enjoy from her local library. Sylvia is a much valued member of this pre-school.

Liz - Liz joined us as a finance assistant in January 2016. Liz has had links with Crescent Under 5's as a parent over many years and has had previous banking experience. Liz has taken on the administrator role and is also our Receptionist.
